ABOUT
Kayla Williams is a sideline reporter and host for Ticats TV with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club. Prior to joining the Ticats team, Kayla has worked for a variety of television and online companies in the U.S gaining valuable experience as a reporter and producer. She got her first on-air role as a news reporter and weekend anchor for KTVE 10, an NBC-affiliate in West Monroe, Louisiana after graduating from Grambling State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
A Toronto native, Williams attended Grambling on a volleyball scholarship where she was a 2x All-SWAC recipient. With storytelling and sports both passions in her life, Williams returned to school and obtained her Master of Science degree in Sport Administration from Georgia State University in 2014. While in Atlanta, Williams juggled being a full-time grad student, assistant volleyball coach at a Div-III college and freelance reporter for Sprite & GlobalBasketball. She covered the Atlanta Hawks as a beat reporter and got a taste of entertainment news covering the ins and outs of the art, music and fashion scene in Atlanta.
Similar to Toronto, Kayla is a blend of cultures and proudly embodies her Filipino, Jamaican and Lebanese heritage. Prior to returning to broadcasting with the Ticats, Kayla spent a year playing professional volleyball in the Philippines and is currently a member of the Jamaican national indoor volleyball team.
Now back in her native Ontario, Kayla is extremely excited to cover the latest news and sports events happening in the Greater Toronto Area.
